this is mainly an excuse to have a second blog post up so i can figure out how to add back and forward controls to the blog pages
but it do be somethin' i be thinkin' bout
im currently rethinkin' my youtube archival strategy (again) due to a conundrum i had regardin' long term storage and viewin'
up until recently i was downloadin' youtube videos at either 360p, or 480p if it was available, for space concerns on da hard drive
but then i started thinkin' bout generation loss
im likely gonna hafta move these videos between storage mediums in the future and, if the video is already at 360p, the video quality would likely suffer even further;
would it ever get to the point of bein' unreadable or unrecognizable?
im startin' to wonder if downloadin' shit at 720p might be a better move ultimately, even if the files are like 2x the size
the other concern i have is playback; ive considered the posibility of burnin' these videos to dvd and viewin' em on like a tv or sum'n
360p might be okay on a small video player on a laptop screen but what blown up to a tv screen? 720p would prolly be better
now im no stranger to viewin' low fidelity media but how would modern tvs handle that over glorious crts?
idk maybe these types of internet videos are just tailor made for laptop screens, spiritually, that is
